Mahakaleshwara appears

गर्तात्ततः समुत्पन्नः शिवो विकटरूपधृक् |

महाकाल इति ख्यातो दुष्टहन्ता सतां गतिः || 37 ||

 

Then Lord Shiva bearing a frightening form emerged from the pit, well known as Mahakala, killer of the evil people and bestowing good progress (or heaven or liberation) to the good people.
